Premier League: Burnley and Wolves relegated – what next?

Wolves and Burnley have both already had relegation from the Premier League to the Championship confirmed.

Wolves became the first team this season to be relegated to the Championship after 17th-placed West Ham earned a goalless draw at London rivals Crystal Palace on 20 April.

Just 48 hours later, the Clarets joined them after a 1-0 defeat by Premier League leaders Manchester City.

The remaining relegation spot, likely to be between Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Spurs, is unlikely to be decided until nearer the end of the season.

Forest sit five points clear of Tottenham, who are in 18th, with four games to go, while West Ham are two points ahead.

Current Opta projections give Spurs a 58.44% chance of going down for the first time in Premier League history, while West Ham have been given a 38.21% chance of finishing in the bottom three.

Forest’s chances of a return to England’s second tier after four seasons away are just 2%, with 15th-placed Leeds United’s chances of going down just 1.18%.
