John Korir defends title at 2026 Boston Marathon in CR 2:01:52!

John Korir won the Boston Marathon for the second straight time! In near-perfect conditions, John took the lead around 30k and was on course record pace as he flew through the last six miles, breaking the record set by Geoffrey Mutai in 2011 of 2:03:02.

BOSTON (USA, Apr 20): In excellent conditions, including a favorite tailwind, Kenya’s John Korir won the Boston Marathon for the second year in a row in a course record of 2:01:52 (61:50/60:02), the seventh fastest time in history. He won by almost one minute from world champion Alphonce Simbu from Tanzania (2:02:47) and Kenya’s Benson Kipruto (2:02:50), both of whom were also under Geoffrey Mutai’s previous course record of 2:03:02 set in 2011. Zouhair Talbi and Charles Hicks were the top US finishers in fifth (2:03:45) and seventh (2:04:35) respectively, and Germany’s Richard Ringer was the leading European finisher in eighth in 2:04:47. In an excellent race in terms of depth, the top 13 finishers all broke the 2:06-barrier and the top 28 finishers all ran inside the 2:10-barrier.
