Glenton Stuurman: South African bowler’s stint with Kent cut short due to injury

Glenton Stuurman’s overseas spell with Kent has been ended by a quad injury picked up on his debut against Durham.

The former South Africa bowler had signed to play the first six games of the County Championship season.

Stuurman, 33, took five wickets in the match before leaving the field injured and scans have revealed he will miss at least six weeks, ending his time with the county.

“We’re disappointed that Glenton’s time has been cut short this season. He has been a good addition to the dressing room,” Kent’s director of cricket Simon Cook said.

“With Matt Quinn very close to match fitness and Mikey Cohen fully available, we still have depth in our seam bowling attack for the near future. Grant Stewart will also be in contention to return next week.”

Stuurman took 3-64 and 2-43 as Kent drew with Durham in Division Two.

Kent have drawn both their games and visit Worcestershire next week.
