Riyan Parag has been caught vaping inside the Rajasthan Royals dressing room, and he might have to face a massive sanction, as the act is considered an offense under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act (PECA) 2019.
The TimesofIndia.com has reached out to the BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia for a comment, and the story will be soon known to us after an update arrives from their end. The BCCI secretary’s standpoint would be essential to understand the dynamics surrounding the RR skipper’s outrageous act.
However, despite all that, the Rajasthan Royals handed the Punjab Kings their first defeat of the season and ended their undefeated streak after seven games. The Punjab Kings still hold onto the top spot while the Royals advance to the third position, having two points more than the Sunrisers Hyderabad while also having played a game more than the Men in Orange.
RR skipper Riyan Parag caught vaping inside the dressing room
After his dismissal, Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag was captured on camera vaping inside the dressing room during the live broadcast of their match against the Punjab Kings. The act was considered offensive and quickly went viral on social media.
This happened shortly after his dismissal, Yuzvendra Chahal, as it was evident in the 16th over of the game, when Parag was seen vaping in the presence of his teammates Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Smoking is completely prohibited in the dressing room and on the stadium premises as well, except in some areas that are designated for the purpose of smoking. Riyan Parag was holding an e-cigarette or a vape, which is banned under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act (PECA) 2019.
This act prohibits the production, sale, purchase, import, export, and advertisement of e-cigarettes/vapes in India, and violations can lead to imprisonment and hefty fines.

Serious concerns have been raised over the act of Vapor
The act has raised serious concerns because vaping is neither legal nor is regulated in the country and might lead to further investigations on this matter.
“Unlike smoking a cigarette, you don’t know what you are inhaling when it comes to vaping. There is a reason why it is banned in the country and one has no clue about the ingredients which go inside it and whether it meets the safety guidelines.
“Especially for an elite athlete. The franchise and the captain will need to keep their reasons ready because the BCCI is unlikely to come down soft on an incident like this,” says an industry source tracking developments.
This is the second violation for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026
This is not the first violation for the Rajasthan Royals this season, as they have been amid a controversy this season for the second time. Earlier, the manager violated the PMOA protocol as he was casually seen using the phone outside the designated area.
This time Riyan Parag, despite being the skipper of the Rajasthan Royals side, has been seen smoking inside an area where he is not allowed to use that. The Royals’ skipper has been in disastrous form with the bat, as he is yet to surpass even 150 runs in this season of the IPL.
