Winning an ATP Tour title is an achievement in itself. But doing so after coming back from the brink of defeat arguably adds another layer of significance.
So far in the 2026 season, three players have managed to stage dramatic comebacks, saving match points en route to lifting a trophy.
Ben Shelton staged a great escape at the Nexo Dallas Open in February when he saved three championship points to lift the title at the ATP 500 event. In April, Mariano Navone fended off two match points at the Tiriac Open presented by UniCredit Bank in his semi-final clash. One day later, the Argentine lifted his first tour-level title.
On the same day, Tommy Paul saved three championship points at the Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship to win his first tour-level crown since 2024 .
