When will Alcaraz, Sinner play their first match in Monte-Carlo?

Both players start their title bids on Tuesday at ATP Masters 1000 event

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will each begin their 2026 clay season on Tuesday at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.

After the day’s play on Court Rainier III kicks off at 11 a.m. local time (CEST) with Matteo Berrettini against Roberto Bautista Agut, second seed Sinner’s clash against Ugo Humbert will follow. The No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings, Alcaraz will then begin his title defence at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Monaco against Sebastian Baez, before Alexander Bublik against Gael Monfils rounds out the schedule on the Monte-Carlo Country Club’s stadium court.

Having lost two of his past three matches, Alcaraz is hoping that the return to clay, the surface he grew up on, can help him forge further success after he began 2026 by winning titles at the Australian Open and in Doha. The Spaniard leads Baez 3-0 in the pair’s Lexus ATP Head2Head series.

Meanwhile the second-seeded Sinner is looking to extend his record streak of having won 34 consecutive sets at Masters 1000 level. The Italian, who completed the coveted ‘Sunshine Double’ by winning both Indian Wells and Miami in March, has the chance to take the World No. 1 spot back from Alcaraz this week.

Other stars in action on Tuesday include fifth seed Alex de Minaur, who plays against his Monte-Carlo doubles partner Cameron Norrie, and ninth seed Casper Ruud, who faces Alexei Popyrin. See the full order of play from Monaco below.
