Every major champion has their rituals, but Carlos Alcaraz might have just raised the bar again. True to his word following the Australian Open, the Spaniard didn’t let his Melbourne triumph linger only in memory.
Instead, the 22-year-old turned it into art, adding a new tattoo to his lower left leg: a kangaroo clutching the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup, framed by a clean outline of Australia. It’s a design Alcaraz first hinted at following his final victory in Melbourne against Novak Djokovic in February, when he became the youngest player in history to complete the Career Grand Slam.

“I’ve said it’s going to be a kangaroo, for sure, a little kangaroo,” Alcaraz said six weeks ago.
The latest piece joins a growing and distinctly personal collection. Wimbledon brought a strawberry, Roland Garros an Eiffel Tower, and the US Open a bold Statue of Liberty design.
Alcaraz this week competes at the Miami Open presented by Itau. The Spaniard’s perfect 16-0 run in 2026 was ended by Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals in Indian Wells but he will look to bounce back in Florida, where he became the youngest champion in tournament history aged 18. The No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings could meet Joao Fonseca in his opening match.
