Jannik Sinner had a flash of inspiration waiting at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters on Tuesday, when he crossed paths with the fastest man alive, Usain Bolt.
Fresh off a commanding opening win over Ugo Humbert, the No. 2 player in the PIF ATP Rankings then went off court to greet the eight-time Olympic gold medallist. The Jamaican, world record holder in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay, watched from the stands on Court Rainier III while Sinner opened his campaign at the clay-court ATP Masters 1000 event in style.

“It’s nice seeing you around the tennis courts. It’s a big pleasure,” Sinner said to Bolt after the pair shared an embrace.
Sinner’s focus quickly returns to the task at hand in Monte-Carlo, where he has the opportunity to reclaim the No. 1 spot in the PIF ATP Rankings from rival Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian is riding a 13-match winning streak after capturing titles in Indian Wells and Miami last month.
Next up in his quest in the Principality, Sinner awaits Francisco Cerundolo or Tomas Machac. With Bolt still at the Monte-Carlo Country Club, the 24-year-old Sinner will be aiming to keep his run on track and finish as strongly as the fastest man in history.
