MotoGP: What did Aprilia’s riders have to say after their historic triumph in Brazil?

By Balazs Szabo on

Aprilia Racing left the Autódromo Internacional de Goiânia – Ayrton Senna with a landmark result, securing a commanding 1–2 finish and placing four RS‑GP machines inside the top ten.

Marco Bezzecchi continued his extraordinary run of form with a fourth consecutive Grand Prix victory, while Jorge Martín claimed second place to deliver Aprilia’s second factory one‑two in the premier class.

Bezzecchi, starting from the middle of the front row, immediately seized control of the race with a decisive move into Turn 1. From that moment onward, the Italian never relinquished the lead, managing the pace with precision to take Aprilia’s first‑ever win on Brazilian soil.

The victory extends his streak to four consecutive Grands Prix—Portimão, Valencia, Buriram, and Goiânia—marking the first time in his career he has achieved such a run.

The achievement places Bezzecchi in elite company. He becomes only the fifth rider in the modern MotoGP era to win four consecutive races, joining Valentino Rossi, Marc Márquez, Jorge Lorenzo, and Francesco Bagnaia.

It has also been eleven years since any rider last led four straight Grands Prix from start to finish. With this result, Bezzecchi also becomes the first Aprilia rider to reach five premier‑class victories, including his 2025 Silverstone triumph.

Reflecting on the weekend, Bezzecchi said: “It was a fantastic race and a great day. I am truly extremely pleased because, given our start on Friday, I honestly never would have thought I could win.

“Saturday evening we worked hard, and I felt good straight away this morning. I’d like to dedicate this win to Roberto Lunadei, who passed away last week, and to his entire family.”

Behind him, Jorge Martín delivered his strongest performance yet on the RS‑GP26. The Spaniard secured second place and his first long‑race podium with Aprilia, ending a 490‑day absence from the Grand Prix rostrum. His adaptation to the new machine has been rapid, and his pace throughout the weekend confirmed his growing confidence.

Martín highlighted the progress made since joining the team: “I’m not surprised by the result because there was a lot of hard work behind it. I knew that, once I was back to full fitness, I would have the speed.

“The thing that surprises me the most is how quickly I’m adapting to the RS‑GP26. Bezzecchi has taken four wins in a row, and that is certainly admirable.

“With him we are a team — in the briefings we compare notes, and together we are developing the bike by trying to help each other, which is essential to move the project forward.”

The combined result marks Aprilia’s tenth premier‑class victory, their fourth in a row, and their second factory one‑two after Montmeló 2023. With two rounds completed, Aprilia Racing now leads both the manufacturers’ and teams’ standings, and for the first time in their history, they occupy the top two positions in the riders’ championship.

The success extended beyond the factory garage. Trackhouse MotoGP Team delivered one of their strongest collective performances to date, with Ai Ogura finishing fifth and Raúl Fernández taking tenth. Their results placed four Aprilias inside the top ten, further underlining the competitiveness of the RS‑GP package.

Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola praised the collective effort across both teams: “A fantastic job by Marco who, along with his team, managed to transform a complicated Friday so much that he barely missed pole position and, with a perfect start, took the lead straight away for an undisputed win.

“It was a perfect Sunday with Jorge once again on the podium. It’s an emotional experience to see him up there two days in a row after such a long time. It’s also wonderful to see so many Aprilias at the front, with Trackhouse MotoGP Team even in second place on the team standings.

“These are all positive and strong signs. It’s obviously easy to have illusions after two such positive races, but I think that the next two, Austin and Jerez, will give us a more complete picture of the playing field. We have two extremely strong riders and, once again, the hard work done in Noale has been rewarded, which deserves the sacrifices we are all making together.”
