Racing Bulls have revealed a bold one‑off livery for the Japanese Grand Prix, continuing their tradition of special‑edition designs for key Formula One weekends.
The Faenza‑based team showcased the new look during the Red Bull Tokyo Drift night‑time car meet and party, turning the event into a celebration of Japanese culture, creativity, and motorsport energy.
The livery, which will adorn the VCARB 03 cars of Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad at the Japanese Grand Prix, draws inspiration from the Red Bull Spring Edition can. Its red‑and‑white palette is designed to “blend the energy of F1 with the elegance of traditional Japanese shodo calligraphy,” the team explained, highlighting a collaboration with renowned Japanese calligrapher Bisen Aoyagi.
Aoyagi described the artistic vision behind the design, saying: “Calligraphy captures motion in a single stroke, much like racing captures speed in a pivotal moment. I was inspired by cherry blossoms and the culture of Japan to create a design that feels powerful, elegant and alive on the car.”
The influence of Japanese aesthetics extends beyond the cars themselves. The same visual identity will appear on the drivers’ race suits and throughout the team’s kit for the Suzuka weekend, creating a unified and culturally resonant look.
Racing Bulls CEO Peter Bayer emphasized the team’s desire to connect with fans in meaningful ways: “As a team, we’re always looking for ways to connect with young fans and the cultures that shape our sport.
“The creative direction for this special livery and team kit originated with the Red Bull Spring Edition can, and together with Bisen Aoyagi, we transformed that bold design into something truly unique for the track.
“Unveiling it in Tokyo, in front of the passionate fans at Red Bull Tokyo Drift, makes this moment even more special for our team,” Bayer concluded.
