Holger Rune could return to action at the Bitpanda Hamburg Open in May. The Dane confirmed on social media Thursday that he plans to compete at the ATP 500 clay-court tournament.
Rune has been sidelined since October with an Achilles injury sustained in Stockholm. The 22-year-old, who is still on the entry list for the ATP Masters 1000 event in Rome at the start of May, will make his third appearance in Hamburg. The Dane reached the quarter-finals in 2024.
Before his injury, Rune compiled a 36-22 win-loss record in 2025, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. Rune’s highlight came on clay in Barcelona, where he defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the final to win his fifth tour-level title.
The former No. 4 player in the PIF ATP Rankings is set to feature in Hamburg alongside Alexander Zverev and defending champion Flavio Cobolli. The event will be held from 17-23 May.
