Ireland international Sam Monaghan has signed a new contract with Gloucester-Hartpury.
The 32-year-old second-row forward joined the club in 2022 from Wasps and will extend her stay into the 2026-27 Premiership Women’s Rugby campaign.
Monaghan, who previously co-captained Ireland, has been capped 31 times by her country and played in four of this year’s Women’s Six Nations matches.
“Sam has been instrumental to our success since she joined the club,” said head of rugby Dan Murphy.
“She brings real quality on the field, but just as importantly, she’s someone who leads through her actions every day and has a hugely positive influence on those around her.”
Monaghan returned this season after missing a year due to an anterior cruciate ligament knee injury suffered in June 2024.
She has featured 11 times for Gloucester-Hartpury this season and is the latest player to agree extended terms, after England internationals Georgia Brock, Maud Muir, Emma Sing and Alex Matthews, and Wales’ Nel Metcalfe.
“I’m excited to get the opportunity to keep pushing this team towards what I know we can achieve together,” Monaghan said.
