Editor’s Note: I first interviewed Jessica Schilder in Apeldoorn in 2025, prior to the European Championships. I enjoyed watching her big win there and her performance in Nanjing as well. In Tokyo 2025, Jessica took the gold medal at the World Outdoor. Her performance in Torun gave her 4th place.
Jessica is quite introspective and is popular with her country people. The FBK Hengelo meeting is one of my favorite events.
Schilder in Hengelo
HENGELO (NED): Shot put World champion Jessica Schilder confirmed her appearance at the 45th edition of FBK Games in Hengelo (WACT Gold) on June 21. “I am really looking forward to throwing on Dutch soil in the beautiful Fanny Blankers-Koen Stadium. I look forward to the amazing atmosphere! On to Hengelo.”
And meeting director Ellen van Langen adds, “It is wonderful that we have Jessica at the start as a world champion. It is also great that she has brought her discipline into the spotlight among Dutch sports fans over the past few years. Jessica is therefore one of the main attractions for the public.”
