Zizou Bergs and Jannik Sinner prevailed in a doubles showdown packed with elite singles talent on Sunday at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.
In the first main-draw match of the clay-court ATP Masters 1000 event, the Belgian-Italian duo delivered an entertaining performance to overcome fellow accomplished singles players Tomas Machac and Casper Ruud 6-4, 7-5 in 83 minutes.

Bergs and Sinner followed the victory by giving the crowd a moment to remember with their celebration, clasping their hands and raising them aloft, each pointing to the sky.
Sinner, currently No. 2 in the PIF ATP Rankings, has an opportunity to reclaim the World No. 1 spot from Carlos Alcaraz this week in Monaco. Yet the Italian showed he is equally eager to make his mark in doubles, teaming with Bergs for the first time to secure an impressive win on Court Rainier III.
The pair struck eight aces and converted four of their nine break-point chances, according to Infosys ATP Stats. Next up, they will face brothers Stefanos Tsitsipas and Pavlos Tsitsipas or eighth seeds Guido Andreozzi and Manuel Guinard.
