F1Technical’s senior writer Balazs Szabo delivers his latest Formula E analysis from the Monaco Formula E paddock.
Fifth career win – Starting from second on the grid, Nyck de Vries delivered a masterclass in strategy and composure to secure his fifth career Formula E victory at the 2026 Monaco E-Prix.
The Dutch driver had previously won twice in Diriyah, once in Valencia, and once in Berlin – all of those victories coming with Mercedes Formula E team.
First since Berlin – De Vries’ victory in Monaco also marked his first win for Mahindra and his first triumph since the 2022 Berlin E-Prix.
First in GEN3 era – The triumph was a historic moment for the Banbury-based Mahindra team, as it marked their maiden success in the GEN3 era.
First podium for Marti – A race-defining crash between Dan Ticktum and Antonio Félix da Costa in the closing stages saw the British driver handed a post-race time penalty.
Although Ticktum finished fourth on the road, the incident promoted rookie Pepe Marti to third, giving the Spaniard his first Formula E podium and making him the first driver from Spain to claim silverware in the championship.
Drivers’ Championship – Mitch Evans finished second, securing his fifth Monaco podium and his third top-three finish in the last four races.
The result propelled the Jaguar driver to the top of the Drivers’ Championship, overtaking Pascal Wehrlein and establishing a 15-point buffer.
Mahindra racer Edoardo Mortara failed to score any points but still holds on to third place in the standings, followed by Oliver Rowland and Nico Müller.
By securing his first career podium in Formula E, Josep Maria Marti jumped to P10 in the standings with 40 points, just one place and one point ahead of race winner Nyck de Vries.
Teams’ Championship – Evans’ second place and consistent form helped Jaguar leapfrog Porsche in the Teams’ standings, though only two points separate the British and German squads.
Despite a difficult first half of the 2025/26 season, De Vries’ win strengthened Mahindra’s position in the Teams’ table. The Indian outfit now sits third, fifty points behind Jaguar.
