Alexander Zverev set a semi-final meeting with Jannik Sinner at the Miami Open presented by Itau on Thursday when he earned a resounding 6-1, 6-2 win against Francisco Cerundolo.
With the 65-minute quarter-final victory, the German notched his fourth consecutive win against the Argentine, earning a 4-3 lead in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series.
The third seed will now turn his focus to his semi-final clash with Sinner, looking to respond after his straight-sets loss to the Italian in Indian Wells earlier this month. Sinner leads 7-4 in their rivalry, having won each of their six encounters.
Zverev, however, has been in strong and consistent form in South Florida. He did not face a single break point in his past two matches in Miami and will look to maintain that level against Sinner, who has now won 30 consecutive sets at the ATP Masters 1000 level.
Cerundolo, who reached the Miami semi-finals on debut in 2022 and the quarter-finals in 2023 and 2025, looked back to his best in Miami again after defeating World No. 10 Daniil Medvedev in the third round. However, the Argentine was unable to respond to Zverev’s level, missing out on a chance to advance to his third ATP Masters 1000 semi-final.
