When Srixon/Cleveland and Brooks Koepka parted ways at the end of April, the obvious question was “What does his bag look like now?” We got a peek at the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club and the answers are interesting.
What’s new: Titleist makes its move
The most visible changes are on the Titleist side of the ledger. Koepka swapped his Cleveland RTZ wedges for Vokey SM11s carrying the 48, 52 and 56 in the standard line and a WedgeWorks 60 for his lob wedge. They all have Dynamic Gold X100 shafts.
He also made the ball switch official, putting the Titleist Pro V1 in play after ditching the Srixon Z-Star Diamond. The Srixon was a ball developed specifically for him and he let it go just before the Masters.
What hasn’t: Some old friends remain
A lot hasn’t changed in Koepka’s bag. He is still carrying the Srixon ZX7 Mk II irons (4-9) that he had in the bag before, paired with a NIKE Vapor Pro long iron. His TaylorMade M2 Tour HL fairway wood and Titleist GT3 driver remain.
Earlier this year, he was playing with the Scotty Cameron Teryllium Tour Newport 2 putter but it looks like he may have put the TaylorMade Spider Tour X in the bag for now.
The Srixon irons in particular are telling. He picked those up on his own before any contract existed and apparently sees no reason to put them down now.
What it all means
It’s a bag that reflects a player who knows exactly what he likes and isn’t in a hurry to change it. Where Koepka lands equipment-wise long-term remains an open question but for now his bag looks like what it is: a free agent making his own calls.
