In the first quarter-final match of the day, Sinner faced Spaniard Jodar. The Italian saved all five break points he faced in the second set, highlighted by fending off a crucial one in the eighth game with this stylish backhand flick.
Sinner then powered to a 6-2, 7-6(0) victory against the #NextGenATP star. With the triumph, the World No. 1 completed the set of reaching all nine ATP Masters 1000 semi-finals. Sinner will next face Arthur Fils.
Recent Barcelona champion Fils advanced to the last four in Madrid for the first time with a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Miami finalist Jiri Lehecka.
The Frenchman produced many thrilling moments on the court throughout the 74-minute clash, including clinching this fun rally early in the first set.
In doubles action, Manuel Guinard and Guido Andreozzi outlasted singles stars Stefanos Tsitsipas and Luciano Darderi 5-7, 6-1, 11-9. En route to the triumph, Guinard found himself in an awkward situation in the second set, when the Frenchman got struck by one of Tsitsipas’ backhands.
