Jannik Sinner won his third ATP Masters 1000 trophy of 2026 on Sunday at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, where he defeated great rival Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(5), 6-3 in the championship match. With the triumph, Sinner also reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the PIF ATP Rankings.

Among the stars in attendance were F1 drivers George Russell and Charles LeClerc. ATP No. 1 Club member Stefan Edberg and former World No. 4 Holger Rune were among those also in the crowd, ready to witness Sinner and Alcaraz battle on.

Alcaraz secured an early break to start the match. But after Sinner bounced back, he began finding his timing from the baseline, controlling play with his forehand.

Despite being tested on serve, Alcaraz continued to hold serve and used his clever touch, especially with his drop shots, to keep Sinner at bay.

But Sinner was able to read Alcaraz’s drop shots well and eventually was better at managing pressure. He won the first set tie-break to inch one step closer to the title and World No. 1.

To start the second set, Alcaraz hustled to claim an early break. In the following game, he saved two break points to take a 3-1 lead.

But it was then that Sinner claimed control of the match, mounting pressure and earning break points with an exquisite backhand smash before levelling at 3-3, then moving ahead 4-3.

Then Sinner struck again, carving out a break point with a forehand blast. He did not look back from there, having won the final five games to complete a memorable victory.

With the victory, not only did Sinner ensure his return to the No. 1 spot in the PIF ATP Rankings, but he also became just the third player in history to win four consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles, joining Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. The Italian is now on a 22-match win streak at Masters 1000 events.
